2025 Pool Options Study

Overview
The Pool Options Study is a comprehensive assessment led by HRVPRD in partnership with architectural firm Integrus. Their team will evaluate the current facility conditions, provide multiple design options, and conduct a detailed cost analysis to guide future decisions. Throughout this process, there will be opportunities for broad input from local residents, ensuring community perspectives are considered. The purpose of this study is to promote transparency and invite public involvement, empowering residents to participate in shaping the future of the pool. Your feedback will play a vital role in guiding the project's direction and determining the best path forward.

Backgound
Last spring the Hood River Valley Parks and Recreation District asked for a bond and levy to build a community center, develop parks, purchase park space, and fund maintenance, recreation programs and, operations. We have spent the last year listening and engaging with the community. We heard a lot feedback. The fact is the pool is still falling apart. We spent $50,000 on HVAC repairs this fall and didn’t get the heat turned on until November, and in the past couple months three of our 22 tent panels have failed beyond repair at a replacement cost of $12,000 each. Some people have said: “Just keep replacing parts when they break.” Or “Maybe it’s time to close the pool because they are too expensive.” Some people say: “Quit throwing good money after bad and replace the whole thing exactly as it is.”  And others say: “We still want a new and improved pool that is built for the next generation.”  WHAT DO YOU SAY?
