VOLUNTEER AT HOOD RIVER PARKS + RECREATION DISTRICT


Volunteers help make the fun happen! Share your time and talents and be part of the exceptional services that is provided by the Hood River Parks + Recreation team.

Here’s where you can get involved!

  • Youth Sports - Volunteer coaches are an essential part of Hood River Parks + Recreation District youth sports programs. Hundreds of adult volunteers are needed each year to support these programs. Volunteer Coaches attend preseason the coaches meeting, prepare for practices, instruct athletes, teach appropriate sport and team skills, manage the team at games, communicate with parents

  • Youth Recreation + Enrichment – help with science, art, crafts, theater, day camps, outdoor adventures and more. Opportunities available over summer break and holidays.

  • Water Exercise – assist in a water activity class. Opportunities available at the Hood River Aquatic Center.

  • Adult Programs – help with classes, activities and events held at the Hood River Aquatic Center and other facilities. Activities also include Pickleball, Soccer, Volleyball and more.

  • Summer Kidz Camp 2024- Counselor in Training (CIT). Assist camp counselors with games, crafts and activities and be an extra eye for campers. This is a great opportunity for 12-15 year old’s to get some job experience and enjoy the many fun field trips such as laser tag, Lost Lake, ice cream and more! See you Summer 2025!

After we receive your application, we will contact you with information about current volunteer opportunities and the next steps for getting started. Additional information may be required. Completing a volunteer application does not guarantee placement in a volunteer position.

Volunteer and Youth Sports Coaches are Needed ➡️

  • Currently seeking Volunteers for our 2024 Winter Youth Sports programs (youth indoor soccer, youth basketball)

  • Volunteer coaches are eligible to have their child’s registration fee reimbursed or waived but must commit to coaching the entire season.

  • Fee waiver/reimbursements only apply to programs run solely by Hood River Valley Parks and Recreation District


Step 1

Complete the Volunteer Form

This form will help us gather all of the important information required to be a volunteer with Hood River Parks + Recreation District.


Step 2

Fill out the Background Check form

Hood River Parks + Recreation processes a criminal history background check for volunteers ages 18 and over.

  • Minimum age requirement for volunteers varies by opportunity.

  • Download the form, print out and complete pages 1 and 2. These must be returned by email to Gio Magana-Rivera or dropped off at the Hood River Aquatic Center, 1601 May Street, Hood River, OR.


Step 3

Complete the Concussion Awareness Training

Keeping children and teens healthy and safe is always a top priority. Whether you are a parent, youth sports coach or sport official, this Concussion Awareness training will help you recognize, respond to, and minimize the risk of concussion or other serious brain injury. As soon as you complete the training you will be able to download and print a certificate that you can show to the Sports Supervisor.


Complete the Volunteer Coach Agreement

  • Complete this liability release form to acknowledge that your volunteer role is at the discretion of the Hood River Parks + Recreation District

  • Download the form, print out and complete. This must be returned by email to Gio Magana-Rivera or dropped off at the Hood River Aquatic Center, 1601 May Street, Hood River, OR.
