SOCCER TOTS OVERVIEW

Who Can Sign Up: 3 - 5 yrs olds (not in kindergarten)

Program Description

The Soccer Tots program is designed for children 3 to 5 years old. Five-year-old Kindergarteners are asked to sign up for the Mini World Cup. Soccer Tots’ mission is to provide a positive soccer experience for each young player. To accomplish this, we have adopted a philosophy focuses on fun and development rather than keeping score and winning. Soccer Tots is a theme-based program where players will be introduced to the basics: no hands, dribbling, ball control, passing and scoring through fun games! The players will be placed into small groups, each player will have a ball and will work with one volunteer coach.

Session Frequency: 5 sessions over 5 weeks

Tentative Dates + Times: September 11 - October 9 / Days: Wednesdays / Time: 5:30 - 6:30 pm

SOCCER TOTS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

This program CANNOT run without parent volunteers and close parent engagement. If this is your second season of Soccer Tots you know what we mean. Specifically, we will need at least 10 volunteer coaches to each lead a group of players through the practice activities as well as multiple people to help with checking kids in, handing out equipment, setting up fields, clean up, etc. Volunteer coaches are eligible to have their child’s participation fee reimbursed. MINI WORLD CUP OVERVIEW

Who Can Sign Up: Kindergarten - 2nd graders

Program Overview

The Mini World Cup (MWC) soccer program is designed for students that are in kindergarten to second grade. This program's mission is to provide a positive soccer experience for each player. To accomplish our mission, MWC has adopted a philosophy that puts athletes first and winning second. At this age group winning is not an objective and we value learning over winning. MWC Fall League is a program where players will be introduced to their first team experience and the fundamentals: dribbling, ball control, passing, attacking, and defending. Teams will be coed and formed by school/area of attendance.

Practice + Game Frequency: 1 or 2 practices/week + 1 game/week

Tentative game dates: September 21 - October 26 / Game days: Saturdays / Game times: 9 am - 12 pm (depending on age group)

Location Hood River County School District fields

MWC VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED

This program CANNOT run without parent volunteers. Registration has increased over the years with over 200 players signing up last fall. This season we anticipate that we will need 20-30 volunteer coaches to each lead a team through 1 practice per week and games on Saturdays. 3rd-8th SOCCER GRADE OVERVIEW

Who Can Sign Up: 3rd - 8th graders

Program Overview

The Hood River Youth Soccer League is designed for students that in in 3rd to 8th grade. This program's mission is to provide a positive soccer experience for each player. To help accomplish this the soccer league has adopted a philosophy that puts athletes first and winning second. Players will experience an expanded team atmosphere and will continue to develop their basic understanding of the game. Tactics and strategy become more important at these age groups and the players’ understanding of their role increases on the pitch. Teams in this program compete in the Gorge Youth Soccer League which consists of teams from Corbett, Stevenson, White Salmon, The Dalles, and Goldendale.

Practice + Game Frequency: 1 or 2 practices/week + 1 game/week

Tentative game dates: September 14 - October 26 / Game days: Saturdays / Game times: 10 am - 5 pm (depending on age group)

Practice + Game Locations: Hood River County School District fields

Away Games Locations: White Salmon, The Dalles, Stevenson-Carson, and Corbett

3-8th Grade Player Placement Request

  1. Players need to be in the same division (There are three divisions: 3rd-4th, 5th-6th and 7th-8th)

  2. Parents should be in agreement about this arrangement

  3. For the 3rd-4th Grade Division players need to attend the same school 

  4. Players in the 5th-6th Grade Division need to attend the same area schools (Example: Wy'east middle school players will be on the same team as Mid Valley or Parkdale players / May Street and Westside students will be on the same teams as Hood River Middle School students).  

  5. Players in 7th-8th grade division: must attend the same middle school
