Our Mission
The mission of the Hood River Valley Parks + Recreation District is to provide recreational opportunities to the citizens of the Park District, with focus on the youth of our community. Facilities and programs will be developed and maintained to provide safe and economical recreational environments for all users.
We have 40+ years of experience providing a gem of multifaceted aquatic, trail, and park recreation opportunities to the 20,000+ people we serve in the Hood River area. Think family picnics and honing your swimming skills. We help people find balance with a pace set for longevity and well-being—healing, conquering fears and growing connections for youth, seniors, and Latinxs.
Who We Are
People are irresistibly drawn to water and our pool has connected people in our community since 1988. This explains how Hood River Valley Parks + Recreation District came to be.
Did you know we’re the only indoor public pool in the Columbia River Gorge? Not only that, we’ve got trails, parks, playgrounds, picnicking, places to hike, bike, and jog with your dog. Our trails meander from downtown to the Hood River Valley, connecting friends, family, and nature. Physical activity balanced with calming relaxation makes it a good day for youth, seniors, people in recovery, parents, singles, and adventurers alike. These people—families, neighbors, locals, and visitors—believe in places to play and want to grow with us. We will support and include our diverse population and point our compass where they want to go.
The District has a five member Board of Directors who are elected by citizens of the District. The District includes all of Hood River County excluding the City of Cascade Locks.
