Junior Race Team + Water polo camp

Learning to swim fast is fun. Water polo is a hoot. Learning the fundamentals of these sports will strengthen your child’s swimming skills tenfold and will give them confidence to compete.

Details
This camp is designed to give kids confidence in the water and inspire them to take the plunge and join swim team or water polo in the future.

Kids will learn to tread water, dive, swim fast for short distances, and the general rules of water polo and swim competition.

Camp includes 30 minutes of open swim time followed by direct instruction by HRVPRD’S very own water polo state champions, swim teamers, and lifeguarding staff.

Typical Day
Thirty minutes of open swim fun followed by another hour and a half of skills and drills!

  • 10-15 minutes of swimming skills and drills. Each week will focus on a different stroke.

  • 10-15 minutes race, learning to dive, and starting from the blocks

  • 5 minute break

  • 10-15 minutes of treading water and learning the egg beater kick, along with some fun water polo drills.

  • 15 minutes of scrimmage

Junior Lifeguard Camp

About the Camp
This camp is designed for kids ages 11-14 to learn all about lifeguarding and water safety while having fun at the pool. The camp prepares kids that are interested in taking the lifeguarding class when they turn 15. We focus special water safety considerations at both the Hood River Aquatic Center and in the Columbia River. Ask the front desk for more info

Age and Ability Requirements

  • 11-14 years of age

  • Swim one pool length of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke

  • Tread water for thirty seconds

  • Swim underwater for 10 yards

Pricing

$250 | In-District Residents
$300 | Out-of-District Residents
$15 | Optional Add-on Fee to have child stay for open swim after camp
