District Resident Discount

Property taxes paid by Hood River Valley Parks & Recreation District residents help support recreation programs and facilities.

Because District residents already contribute through their property taxes, they receive approximately 20% off standard recreation program fees.

Residents: Discounted rate
Non-Residents: Standard rate

District Residents: Individuals who live in Hood River County, excluding Cascade Locks residents

How do I verify my residency?

  • Photo ID

  • Voter Registration Card

  • Proof of address (utility bill, lease, property tax statement, etc) with one of these 3 ZIP codes:

    • 97031 Hood River

    • 97041 Mt. Hood Parkdale

    • 97044 Odell

Who is Out of District?

Anyone living outside of Hood River and the Hood River Valley.

  • White Salmon, Bingen, Mosier, The Dalles, Cascade Locks.

Do I need to verify every time?

  • Drop-in daily admission: YES

  • Account holders: One-time verification

    • Account holders = participants in recreation programs, swim lessons, or punch card and monthly pass holders

Why isn’t Cascade Locks in The District?

When the District was formed in 1988 for the purpose of saving the pool, a poll found that residents of Cascade Locks did not support raising their property taxes to fund a pool in Hood River. They were left out of the district boundaries and do not contribute property taxes to fund the pool and parks district.

Will all program pricing increase for Out-of-District Residents?

  • No.

  • Recreation programs and aquatic programs such as swimming lessons will remain at a 20% price difference (rounded).

Active Rx Program 2026

Active Rx is funded by the Columbia Gorge Health Council and helps make recreation and swim programs more accessible to our community. In 2026, eligible participants can receive free pool access and swim lessons through Hood River Parks & Recreation.

Available Benefits

Participants may continue registering for benefits throughout the year as long as funding remains available.

Qualified participants may receive any combination of the following:

$50 Scholarship – Apply to receive a $50 scholarship that can be used for any sports and recreation program through Fall of 2026

$100 Scholarship – Apply to receive a $100 scholarship that can be used for Summer Kidz Camp through Summer of 2026
