Building trails, preserving open spaces, and creating accessibility for all.

About The Foundation

The Hood River Valley Parks & Rec Foundation is an independent, 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that works in partnership with—but is separate from—the Hood River Valley Parks & Recreation District.

The Foundation raises funds, acquires assets, and mobilizes community support to enhance parks, trails, and recreation in Hood River County.

Mission Statement: To mobilize community support, raise funds, and acquire assets that promote recreation, equity, and connection to nature for all residents of Hood River County.

Featured Project: $2 Million Capital Campaign

Hood River Valley Parks and Recreation District has two measures on the ballot for voter consideration this May: a bond to rebuild the pool and a levy for parks, community recreation, and pool operations.

The Foundations is a partner committed to raising money for enhancements that the bond won’t cover.

This fundraiser:

  • Provides enhancements for family fun and year-round enjoyment that the bond will not cover

  • Helps balance needs and wants of the community

  • Demonstrates community buy-in for a modern, welcoming facility

  • Pledge or donate now.

Why A Foundation?

While the Parks & Recreation District maintains core operations, the Foundation ensures additional support for:

  • Capital campaigns and land acquisition

  • Trail expansion and development

  • Program scholarships and access equity

  • Environmental stewardship and community partnerships
