SPORTS OPTIONS


  • Program Description:

    The Soccer Tots Summer Acadmy program includes 3 sessions and is designed for children 3 to 5 years old (Not in Kinder). The objective is to provide a positive soccer experience for each young player. To accomplish this, we have adopted a philosophy focuses on fun and development. There will be theme-based programs where players will be introduced to the basics: dribbling, ball control, passing and scoring through fun games! The players will be placed into small groups, each player will have a ball and will work with one volunteer coach.

    Who can sign up: 3-5 yrs old

    Dates: June 23-25 (Tues-Thurs)

    Times: 5:30-6:30 PM

    Location: Port of Hood River field (next to the DMV)

  • Program Description: This 3-day camp is designed for youth Kinder to 5th graders. The camp’s purpose is to provide a positive experience for each participant. At Eagle Youth Soccer Camp participants will have a great time playing with their friends as well as improve their basic skills: dribbling, ball control, passing, combination play, shooting, and group / team play.  

    *Proceeds support the Hood River Valley High School Girls Soccer team

  • Former HRV standout goalkeeper, Vanessa Silva, (class of 2017) will be running this academy. Silva was an All-Conference and State selection in high school and played 4 years of collegiate soccer at Johnson County CC and Baker University in Kansas.

    • Six 1-hour sessions included

    • The focus will be on fundamentals like handling, footwork, diving technique and other essential goalie skills

    • Players will participate in game-like scenarios that will translate to their game knowledge

    • All activities will be fun and engaging

  • Event Description:

    Join us for an exciting day of fast‑paced soccer fun at our upcoming 5v5 Youth Soccer Tournament! This event is open to boys and girls in 2nd through 8th grade, with separate boys’ and girls’ brackets and age‑appropriate divisions to ensure fair and competitive play. Register as a team! If your child does not have a team, you can sign them up as a Free Agent and their placement on a team will depend on sign-ups.

  • Program Description 

    The Youth Basketball Skills Camp will introduce the participants to the basics: players will be taught the basic techniques of shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, and defense. This program includes 6 sessions and will not only provide a fundamental base for each young player but will also be a fun and enjoyable experience for every camper. We follow the USA Basketball Youth Guidelines ensuring that your child is being taught the game the right way.

  • Program Description

    The HRV Youth Baseball Camp will introduce the participants to the basics: players will be taught the basic techniques of hitting, throwing/catching, fielding, base running and more. This three-day camp will provide a foundation for each young player while having fun and enjoying the experience.

  • Program Description:

    The camp will be put on by Levi Glass the head lacrosse coach at Hood River Valley High School as well as some of the players that he coached during the 2026 boys lacrosse season. Participants will be coached on the principles of play that coach Glass has implement with his team this year as well as basic skills such as effectively moving the ball on offense and team defense. The sessions will start with an emphasis on throwing and catching before getting into small sided games such as 3v4’s and 2v3’s. This camp will be a balance of intentional instruction and game like scenarios designed to be competitive and fun.

  • Program Description: What is Ultimate? Its a fast paced non-contact sport with a frisbee on a field with endzones. It’s a cross between football, basketball and soccer…and a ton of fun! Points are scored by catching the disc in the opponent’s end zone. It emphasizes self-officiating and sportsmanship, known as “Spirit of the Game”.

    Who: 3rd - 12th Grades

  • Program Description:

    Join us for a fun, supportive youth running clinic designed to build confidence, improve technique, and foster a love for movement outdoors! Participants will engage in age-appropriate running activities, games, and skill-building exercises suitable for all experience levels. Come ready to move, learn, and have fun!

    👩‍🏫 Instructor

    The clinic will be led by Stacy Claus, a Hood River Middle School teacher who brings extensive experience working with youth athletes. Stacy serves as the Head Coach for Middle School Cross Country as well as the Track and Field Coach, and is passionate about helping students develop lifelong running skills in a positive, encouraging environment.

  • Program Description: 

    Get ready to run, jump, and race at this action-packed Track Camp for 1st–6th grade athletes! Campers will stay active through sprint races, relays, long jump, running games, obstacle-style challenges, and a fun off-site trail run/walk. Over three days of four-hour sessions, kids will rotate through skill stations for running, jumping, and throwing with guided instruction, along with group games, team challenges, mini races, and supervised free play. The camp teaches track and field fundamentals such as proper running form, relay handoffs, jumping, and introductory throwing skills while building confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a fun, safe, and engaging environment.

    Instructor-Coach

    Brinna Weiseth, a former HRV varsity runner (class of 2022), will be leading this academy. During her high school career, she earned a standout 2nd-place finish at the state cross country championships. She went on to compete in collegiate running at the Division II level for Cal Poly Humboldt where she has continued to develop her running career.

  • Program Description: 

    Dash, jump, and race into action with the Hood River Track Academy! In one-hour evening sessions for 1st–2nd, 3rd–5th, and 6th–8th grade, athletes will sprint on the track, practice relays, try long jump, and build coordination through fun, age-appropriate games and drills. Each session includes warm-up games, skill stations for running, jumping, and throwing, optional races, and cool-down activities.     Join us this summer at Hood River Middle School for fun and learning on the court! Campers, ages 10-15, will train with an elite coaching staff using a curriculum designed by James Finley, former Head Volleyball Coach at Seattle University.

    This Oregon volleyball camp is open to girls and boys of all abilities and geared towards building confidence, improving skills, and making new friends.     Dale Agbayani- Camp Director

    Dale is currently the Director of Boys Volleyball and Master Training Coach at Oregon Premier Volleyball Club. Beyond the club level, Dale is an Assistant Coach and the Recruiting Coordinator at Warner Pacific University as well as a Head Coach for Parkrose High School Boys Volleyball. Dale is an accomplished and passionate volleyball coach with a deep commitment to developing athletes both on and off the court. With extensive experience in both boys and girls volleyball programs at different levels, Dale remains dedicated to the holistic development of athletes, promoting not only technical proficiency but also leadership, resilience, and sportsmanship.

Our athletes undergo skill testing and are placed on courts with other campers at their same physical and skill abilities to create success and confidence for each athlete. All campers will be taught the same skills and concepts.

RECREATION OPTIONS


  • Program Description: Wylde, Wind and Water offers a 3-day camp that focuses on water safety education, water sports introduction, and the ecology and history of the Columbia River. Students learn how to Stand up paddle, kayak and become comfortable in natural waters of the Nichols Boat Basin. Afternoon educational enrichment programs include a visit to the Hood River Museum, a hands-on science activity about aquatic biology of the Columbia River, water safety art projects, and more.

  • Program Description:

    This program will Introduce youth to fishing as a lifelong, safe, and ethical activity. They will be taught foundational skills in bait fishing, jigging, and casting. This is a great way for youth to connect to local waters and conservation through respectful handling and habitat care. 

    Instructor Bio – Ernie Delgado

    Ernie Delgado is a retired educator with 39 years of experience working with students in schools and outdoor recreation settings. In addition to his teaching career, Ernie spent 10 years as a ski instructor and coached a variety of sports at both the middle and high school levels. He has a lifelong passion for mentoring youth and adults through active, hands‑on learning. In his free time, Ernie enjoys camping, crabbing, fishing, mountain and road biking, skiing, and water sports. He loves being outdoors and sharing his knowledge to help others build skills and confidence in nature.

    Program Description:

    This engaging 5-day dance intensive blends the creativity of a dance camp with the skill-building of a clinic. Dancers will explore jazz, lyrical, and hip-hop styles while developing coordination, musicality, and confidence.

    Each day includes technique training, across-the-floor progressions, and choreography, along with guided creative sessions where participants learn how to build their own movement combinations.

    Participants will collaborate in small groups to create original choreography and perform in a final showcase on the last day of camp.

    Who: 6 - 11 yrs olds

  • Program Description

    The Hood River Valley Parks and Recreation District's Summer Youth Chess Academy offers young players the opportunity to develop their chess skills in a fun and supportive environment. This program offers four 90-minute sessions and is designed for children of all skill levels, focusing on strategy, critical thinking, and sportsmanship. Participants will engage in guided lessons, practice games, and friendly tournaments, building both their chess abilities and confidence throughout the summer.

  • Class Description:

    Whether your child has never picked up a guitar or already knows a few chords, this 5-session class is designed to meet them where they are and help them grow. We focus on learning by doing—playing real songs together right from the start.

    *Recommendation- if you are brand new and open to learning either instrument, ukulele is an easier place to start

    Students will:

    • Learn basic chords and simple strumming patterns

    • Practice playing and singing at the same time

    • Play well-known songs in a fun group setting

    • Build confidence through music-making (no music reading or theory instruction)

    Jess Desbrow - Instructor

    Your instructor is a Hood River local, parent of two teenagers, and member of the band Honey Jays. When not teaching or playing music, she can often be found on the water, in the mountains, or out on the trails. She loves wearing capes, wigs and wings and all things glitter.

    Her teaching style is relaxed, encouraging, and focused on that the “play” in playing music is the most important part.

  • Cancelations made two or more weeks in advance of the start of the program are eligible for a refund.

  • Cancelations made less than two weeks before the start of the program are NOT eligible for a refund.

Weather cancelations

  • Cancelations due to weather are NOT eligible for reimbursement

  • In some cases, there may exist the possibility of rescheduling but that is not guaranteed
