Who can sign up

Middle school students (6-8th grade) / All levels and riders are welcome / Student must be well-behaved

About the program: There are no races or timed events in this program. The Youth Ski + Snowboard Program is a supervised trip to the mountain for fun, fresh air, and exercise. Students have three check-ins, a coach is always in the lodge, they are required to ride/ski in groups, and there are adults on the ski hill. Many students have learned to ski and/or snowboard through this program. There are six skiing/riding dates included in this program.

Purpose: This program creates the opportunity to make skiing and/or snowboarding a healthy lifestyle choice

Tentative Dates: Jan 8th - Feb 12th / Days: Thursdays / Time: Bus leaves after school and returns around 9 pm

Pickup Locations: Hood River Middle School + WyEast Middle School / Destination: Mt Hood Meadows Ski Resort

Transportation plan:

  • Bus Company transports students

  • Volunteer Parents transport the ski/snowboard equipment


VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteer Parents are needed to help transport equipment to the ski resort as well as other tasks as needed. Volunteers must have appropriate vehicle (4-wheel drive van, truck or SUV). Volunteers will receive a free ski lift ticket each time they help transport equipment. Please consider signing up!

Early Bird Registration Opens: September 2nd (5:00 PM)

Normal Registration begins: October 1st (5 PM)

Registration Closes: Dec 1st or when we reach capacity (90 students)

⚠️Mandatory Parent Meetings: Attendance is required in order for your child to participate

Early Bird Registration Fee $309/student / Normal Registration fee start Oct 1st $319/student

**Fee pays for round-trip transportation, mountain awareness training and supervision

REFUNDS

  • We do not offer refunds for this program if there are cancellations due to inclement weather

  • If there are cancellations due to weather, we will make up a maximum of one session

  • Note: Meadows allows you to claim unused ski passes at later dates

EQUIPMENT + PASSES


Gear, equipment and ski passes: these are the responsibility of each participant, but we will be providing some options for rentals and passes below from Mt Hood Meadows

Know how to ski/snowboard and already have your Mt Hood Meadows Ski Pass? Great! Register for the Ski + Snowboard Program to take advantage of the transportation, coaching/supervision and ski/ride with your classmates!

Interested in Purchasing Rentals + Ski Passes through Mt Hood Meadows? After you register you will receive an email with a special link that will give you access to special pricing.


LESSONS

  • Mt Hood Meadows has discontinued their lessons program on Thursdays.

  • Not all students need lessons.

  • This season if you need ski and snowboard lessons, they will be provided by Hood River Parks and Recreation District Ski + Snowboard Instructors.

  • Lessons will be available for purchase in early October
