The Indian Creek Trail system spans the lower Hood River Valley from East Hazel Avenue near 3rd to Barrett Park. Currently, the trail does not connect all the through. The various trail segments are approximately 3.8 miles. The future vision is to connect connect the missing links for a complete trail system. Working with local partners local partners, landowners, and the community will be important to make this goal happen.

The trail has three main sections, with some spurs leading off the main segments:

  1. E. Hazel & 3rd St to Dutch Bros Coffee (the oldest section) + South Side Connector

Segment 1 is the oldest section, from E. Hazel & 3rd St to Dutch Bros Coffee, begins in a canyon above the Indian Creek, with views to the Hood River nearby. This was the old trail connecting the upper and lower parts of the city. This trail section has a picnic table, bench with a views of the Hood River and pear orchards up the valley, and has access neighborhood access mid-way up the trail with stairs leading to 7th street.

The South Side Connector turns off of Segment 1 just below the Dutch Bros Coffee trail access, dipping back into the woods + meandering on the “South Side” of the the Indian Creek. The trail ends at Betty Lou Lane with future plans to extend the trail behind the Sierverkropp neighborhood, near the Hood River.

  2. 12th St to Devon Court

Cross the intersection at 12th Street and Pacific Avenue to access Segment 2, which runs along the Indian Creek, and behind the Columbia Gorge Community, and leading up to Devon Court. There is an additional trail access point by the Community College on the west end of the parking lot on College Way. Near the Devon Court access, a spur leads southwest running along the Indian Creek but dead ends. The hope is to one day complete this section of the trail to the trail at Arrowhead Drive.

  3. Arrowhead to Barrett Park + Golden Eagle Park

Parking for this beautiful section of trail can be found at Golden Eagle Park. From Golden Eagle Park, walk the perimeter trail bordering the park and follow the trail signs in between the fields bordering the north end of the turf field. From there, you can go in either direction. Head north to towards Arrowhead Road where you can hike beside the Indian Creek and over some boardwalks, or head south to Alamaeda Road to get some wide open views of Mt. Hood on a clear day along Barrett Park.
