Jaime Rivera joins Hood River Parks + Rec team

Hood River Valley Parks and Recreation District has hired Jaime Rivera as the Parks District’s new
Recreation Supervisor to provide youth recreation opportunities.

The Recreation Supervisor position is new for the Parks District. Recently, the Parks District partnered
with the Hood River County School District to take over the management of youth sports and recreation,
which were a part of Community Education.

“Jaime brings a great deal energy and a lot of experience to this position,” said Mark Hickok, District
Director for the Parks District. “His background managing youth leagues, his love for the community, and
his passion for making recreational programs accessible to all Hood River residents make him a great fit
for the position.”

Rivera grew up participating in the programs he will now oversee. He has more than a decade of
experience managing community programs, such as the Hood River youth soccer leagues and camps. He
served as the athletic director for Wy East Middle School and coached the boys Hood River Valley High
School Soccer team to multiple state titles.

“I have envisioned myself in this position for years and now that I am here, I feel incredibly fortunate
and motivated to serve the community, especially our youth coaches, young athletes, and their
families,” said Rivera.

The burning question many have been asking: When can we get our kids registered for spring or
summer programming? “There is a lot of work to be done, but our aim is to have summer program
registration open by mid-April,” Rivera said. In the meantime, Rivera is reaching out to local program
organizers to talk about ways in which the Parks District can work with the programs, as well as
exploring activities for the summer.

Community partners and people interested in providing recreational opportunities for youth, can reach
out to Rivera at jaime@hoodriverparksandrec.org, by phone at 541-386-2055 or the Parks District’s
recreation webpage at www.hrvprd.org/recreation.
