Hood River Valley Parks + Recreation District and Trails Diverged have partnered to bring you this program
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Who Should Sign-up
This program is meant for beginners to adapt to carrying a pack; our pace will be slow and steady with time for photos and soaking in our amazing surroundings.
** Great option for beginners or those that can't get many days off to adventure- it’s a quick trip but you still become immersed in nature and learn the essential skills for you next adventure. **
What to Expect
We will meet at the Hood River Parks and Recreation District parking lot at 9:00 AM and ride together to Red Rock Pass in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Our hike from Red Rock pass will take us over lava fields and through the forest to our campsite, approximately 2.5 miles and 1000ft of elevation gain. Depending on weather conditions and overall group dynamics, we may hike an additional 2 miles to a viewpoint. Participants will be shown how to set up camp, filter water, have dinner, views, and epic connection with Mt. St Helens.
** While on this trip you will also learn the principles of Leave No Trace, and geological and indigenous history of the Mt. St. Helens area. **
