pool-feasibility-study.png

In 2017, Parks & Rec contracted with Water Technologies Inc. (the largest aquatics engineering firm in the US) to conduct a condition assessment of the Aquatic Center. The consultants concluded that many of pool's components have begun to deteriorate or fail and had 3-5 years of useful life left.

What The Report Found:

  • Plaster chipping & peeling in pool tanks

  • Brittle & small pipes from the original pool complex built in 1948

  • Overall Pool Grade = 44.84 out of 100 (failing)

  • Estimated Facility had 3-5 years of useful life left

  • Important parts of pool are outdated & failing

  • Major complications will cause closures & costly repairs

Solution Finding Process:

This group worked with Opsis Architecture to explore replacement options for the facility.

The study was guided through a great deal of community input: stakeholder meetings, focus groups, tabling events, open houses, Spanish foucs groups, surveys, and presentations with local civic groups, organzations, user groups, and surveys.
