The trail has one missing link in the middle of the trail system (from Broken Tee Drive to the Devon Ct + Community College crossing). The Parks District recently secured an option to purchase the property containing the missing link. This option agreement allows the Parks District time to explore possible funding for the property through grants, with an agreement on the final price, and time determine whether funding is possible and the land an appropriate acquisition for the District. Once complete, the trail will stretch from rural west Hood River by Barrett Park, all the way to east Hood River with easy access to urban downtown.

Interesting Facts:The oldest section, Hazel & 2nd St to Dutch Bros Coffee, begins above the canyon of Indian Creek where it joins the Hood River. This was the old trail connecting the upper and lower parts of the city. The trail also served as the conduit for the wooden flume which brought water to a fruit cannery downtown. The historic wooden flume is still there, although it no longer carries water. This trail section has a picnic table, bench with a views of the Hood River and pear orchards up the valley. The newest section of trail wraps around the other side of the the Canyon in Elliot Park, down through the woods behind the Sieverkropp neighborhood with some magnificent views of the Columbia and Hood Rivers.
