Pool Feasibility Study

Parks & Rec contracted with Water Technologies Inc. (the largest aquatics engineering firm in the US) to conduct a condition assessment of the Aquatic Center. What they found was disappointing. After nearly 25 years of year round use, 69 in total, many of pool's components have begun to deteriorate or fail.

Some of these issues could cause immediate closure and costly repairs. With key pieces of infrastructure outdated and beginning to fail, and the effort and cost of maintaining the pool will soon exceed the cost replacement.

Hood River Valley Parks & Rec District is actively seeking solutions and has engaged the community by forming a stakeholder group to advise the Parks & Rec board through this process. This group is working with Opsis Architecture to discuss repair and replacement options for the facility.

Opsis Architecture recently released their final Aquatic Center Feasibility Study detailing future options for the Aquatic Center. Each option is briefly highlighted below.
