Special Programs

Lessons are offered to Gorge Area residents aged 10-18. Our certified instructors teach beginning and intermediate/ advanced courses.

 

Small class sizes, new equipment, and experienced instructors make our classes fun and safe! Classes will be held at "The Hook". The West end of Portway ave. in Hood River.

 

Sign up at the Aquatic Center on May Street.

The fee is $90 per session.

Monday thru Thursday from 1-4pm in the afternoon.  Make up no wind days are Friday.  If there is more than one no wind day it will be dry land instruction.  There will always be class on Mondays. 

Morning and Afternoon classes will teach the same basic skills:

• understanding the equipment
• self rescues
• points of sail
• uphauling
• tack and jibe
• sailing in winds up to 10 knots
• sailing posture
• safety tips
• harness use
• sailing in winds up to 15 knots

Every student will get individualized instruction during every class, with plenty of practice time on the equipment.  Advanced students will progress to water starts.
